OHHHHHH!!!!!!  The boat sinks??? Damn, thanks for ruining it for me too!! Hehehehee, just  a joke....couldn't resist Forgive me? Did anyone hear about the book written almoast 50 years before the titanic sank called the titan. It was supposed to be fiction, but it had to be a prophetic vision of the writer. It was too much like what really happened. Jamie

Mayn Clew Garnett wrote a similar story called The White Ghost of Disaster that was written before the disaster but printed in Popular Magazine in May (rumor had it that he dreamed it up while traveling on Titanic's sister ship the Olympian). There was also a poem called A Tryst by Celia Thaxter in 1887 that was also very similar. But Robertson's book is the really eerie one that came the closest to the real disaster.

Okay, not to beat a dead horse, but, the civil war was largely an economic war, as most are.  It had to do with the growing industrialization of the north, and the unfair competitive edge that the south had because of free labor - slavery.  The south was trying for years to keep the federal government from interfering with slavery, it was not on the way out.  On the same token, the north, and good old Abe, were less concerned with abolishing slavery than they were with the economic development of the country and, as already stated, keeping the union in tact. It was an unfortunate part of history, and as usual, the people who fought were largely mislead about why they were fighting, which makes them all equally heroic and equally tragic.  They were all good guys, really.  The Rebs were fighting to preserve their heritage, and the Yanks were fighting to preserve the nation. My two cents from a grit-eating southerner Neen
