future workforce Building a new society
There was a mythical bird that went on to live for a span of 1000 years, then punctuated each life cycle through a fire of self-destruction. After each burning and out of the ashes, the bird managed to glowingly resurrect itself and went on to live another life of more beauty, majesty, and vibrance than its previous one. The name of this bird is Phoenix. If one ever takes a trip from Los Angeles to Phoenix, Arizona, one would find that the natural landscape around this area is just incredibly magnificent and out of this world. The scenery is almost mythical, beautiful, and serene. The city of Phoenix is located just next to this warm desert of Southwestern part of the United States. I believe that early settlers to this area quite justifiably name the city of Phoenix after this fiery mythological bird. Both the city and the bird evoke hot burning fire. But, they also remind visitors of the natural beauty in a desert like environment. In building a new human society, we need to think and remind ourself of the mythological bird Phoenix. Structural disciplines of social justice, democratic values of human rights, and the intellectual and moral exercise to keep the people within the new society happy and prosperous are the way to filter out the impureties of an irrelevant past. Without a judicious thinking that combines moral and intellectual discipline in order to imagine and re-invent a new _frame_work that is being inspired by creativity, new invention, and better ways of doing things, there will be no incentives to burn the errors of the past. Temptation, arrogance, and hypocrisy have become a way of life that is irrelevant and unnecessary. Madness, anger, and a life of double standard become an easy excuse and the most convenient way to deflect irresponsible behaviors and a categorical refusal to look inward in order to cleanse the hearts and minds from the impureties of bad deeds. Without these kinds of moral and intellectual exercise, without the practice of self-discipline through a constant burning of the impureties, the weeds of temptation, arrogance, and hypocrisy will croud out the moral and social seeds for new development of better opportunities and _frame_works. Moreover, by constantly living in the past and refusing to move forward, because impureties of the past are still alive, fixated, and needing cultivation and attention, people and communities will not be able to reach for new opportunities of better moral, social, or economic relationship. Security that is _base_d on hypocrisy, immorality, and arrogance does not need to depend on new thinking and the fire to burn the temptation of basic instincts. Intuition, human reasoning, scientific discovery, and pure spiritual revelation will not come easily to the people and communities that refuse to look inwardly for the betterment of their moral conscience and outwardly for more exciting social, economic, and even spiritual opportunities. If there doesn't exist a burning of the impureties of the past, there will be no progress of any tangible or intangible substance in any matter of life in the communities. The passion for moral and intellectual excellence doesn't come about from a heart that is heavy in practices of misjudgment from the past. Rectification and self-discipline do not happen with a mind that continues to indulge itself with hypocrisy, immorality, arrogance, and self-rigteousness. This kind of error can be fatal, irrevocable, and it can be beyond recovery. The acquisition of self-discipline is requisite to the real conception of new ideas and better imaginative _frame_works. Humility will assuredly lead to knowledge, understanding, and the acquisition of self-discipline. The building of a new society depends on the principle and practice of these kinds of development. Conflicts, contradictions, and controversies are real if they are not being managed by a disciplined thought process and good human behaviors. Self-discipline should allow people to rise above the challenge of legitimate interpretation of different intellectual and moral values and move on to create a new design for better living arrangement and enjoy the added advantage of the new opportunities. Man grows through the process of self-discipline and human development. Communities prosper if they are being directed and administered by the high structure of social justice, democratic values, and freedom of thoughts. But without self-discipline, real knowledge, and credible information, road map to democracy is blurred, winding, and having plenty of detours. Humility, not arrogance, is the way to self-discipline, expanded sphere of knowledge, and credible maturation of the human character. Without all these elements of the moral integrity to sustain and underline personal and community progress, all other accomplishments are in vain. They are a mere reflection of madness of the human mind. Chim Sotuon
