future cities conference FW: [SeattlePOSA] Nick Licata shares why he did not join the City Council letter about 520 and provides his insights on the subject.......
Here is a statement from Nick Licata on why he did not sign the City Council's letter to the governor. A _link_ to the Council's three-page letter is in Licata's second paragraph. Will write to thank Licata and to the other Councilmembers thanking them for what is good in their letter but expressing the concern that they did not speak more forcefully and seem too anxious to fall in with WSDOT's schedule. Also, no mention of either fixing the bridge to buy time or of the four-lane transit alternative. Note that Councilmember Mike O'Brien did sign the letter. Not sure how to interpret that. Perhaps to show doubters that he is independent of the mayor, or, if still _link_ed in the public's mind with the mayor, that he and the mayor can agree with the City Council on an issue.
