                        UNIVERSITY OF KENT AT CANTERBURY                             DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY                              FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY MSc Applications are invited for postgraduate work in our expanding and productive department.  Our one year, taught Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology is one of the leading courses in the UK.  It is the only MSc in Forensic Psychology recognised by the UK Economic and Social Research Council with Specialist Recognition and a Quota award studentship. FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY (MSc) Those registered on our course receive advanced training in statistics and methodology, specialist courses in criminal behaviour, legal decision making and the treatment and punishment of offenders.  Students also produce an empirical dissertation which they conduct under the supervision of a fully accredited Forensic Psychologist.  It is an ideal training course for those intending to pursue higher degrees by research or careers in the field of criminological and legal psychology. The normal standard of Honours degree required is at least a Second Class, Upper Division, 2,1 (approx. 3.7 GPA).  The other basic entry requirement for our programme is that all candidates must possess a first degree in Psychology which qualifies for the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with The British Psychological Society.  If you possess a first degree in Psychology from a non-British University, you should apply to The British Psychological Society to establish that you qualify for GBR.  All offers of places on the programme are conditional upon candidates' production of documentary evidence of their qualification for GBR. RESEARCH DEGREES (MSc, MPhil, PhD) We also offer supervision for full time or part time research degrees in any of the following areas: Police procedures, legal decision making, eye-witness testimony, the effects of imprisonment, and the relationships between addictive behaviour and criminality.
