cockatiel behaviour Cockatiel behavior question
Well, my little cockatiel is beginning to settle in. He's still pretty frightened of my hands, but he seems to want me around, and he will chirp when I come into the room, move to my side of the cage, and sing to me sometimes. My question is about the singing and other noises he makes.... Occasionally, he will get on his highest perch, hold his wings away from his body, and serenade me. He looks very sleek when he does this, and cocks his head at various angles as he sings, sometimes poking his little beak through the bars at me....does anyone know what significance it has when he holds the wings away from his body? Also, does anyone know the significance of tapping on hard _object_s with his beak? He will do this several time a day...sometimes he taps on the plastic hood of his food dish, swinging his whole body like a little metronome ... sometimes he taps on the bars. Thanks in advance for any insights into this fascinating little creature! Alice
