RELEVANT WORK SKILLS Working at the Hospital made me realise that I definitely want to go into Clinical Psychology, and heightened my interest in Neuropscyhology.   This work involved plenty of patient contact and a high level of responsibility.  The patients I saw were recovering from either stroke or traumatic brain injury, were mostly adult but I did see some children.  I assessed patients’ status using neuropsychological test batteries, including WISC and WAIS-III, as well as numerous other tests.  I also spent time discussing cases with Clinical Psychologists and other assistants, and I gained invaluable insight into areas such a patient care, ethical issues, psychological therapies and neuropsychology itself, as a result of these sessions.  I enjoyed working closely with patients, an tried to learn as much as possible about each case, and each patients’ individual needs resulting from the combination of injury related factors and the patient’s premorbid personality.  I enjoyed working in a group of enthusiastic and highly driven caring professionals, and I feel I learnt an enormous amount in a short period.   My work with Andrew, an autistic boy, has been particularly challenging, and in strong contrast to my hospital work.  He can be difficult to control at times, but responds well to a firm yet calm voice, and can eventually be distracted from his disruptive behaviour.  His use and understanding of language is minimal, although in the time I have been seeing him it does seem to improve, and w e seem to be able to communicate on a basic level.  Working closely with one child in his family situation has allowed me insight into how a family adjusts to a child with such needs, and I have learnt from Andrew the value of persistence and patience. INTERESTS My main interest is travelling.  In the last few years I have travelled extensively in the States, France, Spain, Portugal, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. All of these trips have required stringent budget planning and certain situations have demanded spontaneous use of initiative.  Whenever I am in a foreign country, I try to learn as much as possible about the local history and culture, from books but mainly through discussion with the local people.  I find this allows me to appreciate the country much more, as well as to understand the motivations of the people. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Computing:     I am competent at using Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Statview, on both                           PCs and Macs. Languages:      I have basic French and Spanish. Other:              I hold a full, clean, UK driving license. REFERENCES Academic                                        Clinical Dr. Peter Wright                                Mr. David A.
