Hi, I was just wonder if all the people here talking about medication have tried cognitive behaviour therapy and with what results? I have tried it, might go for a 3rd time round.. I found that other obsessions would just overcompensate for the ones that were being suppressed in the therapy. Plus obsessions often change so it seems difficult to treat with CBT. Andrew

obsessions often change so it seems difficult to treat with CBT. Andrew Hi Andrew I'm on meds and done CBT. My OCD was pretty bad and through this treatment it improved a little bit but I've got a hell of a way to go until I can start to feel normal again. For me the drugs have helped but its probably the CBT that has helped the most. Its bloody hard work though.... Your right about getting new obsessions to replace the ones you are starting to get to grips with. Its the nature of the disorder I believe

obsessions often change so it seems difficult to treat with CBT. It depends, good CBT not only focuses on the specific obsession, but also on your thinking patterns in general. The latter is the most powerful because it will prevent new obsessions popping up...
