Dear Prospective Employer (in Tokyo): I will be moving to Tokyo in mid-May. My wife's employer asked if she wanted to transfer for 3-5 years, and it is too good a chance for us to pass up.  Consequently, I am looking for work in the Tokyo area. In brief, I have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Chicago and have a strong technical background in Human Factors, Computer-Human interaction, GUI, _object_-Oriented analysis, design and programming, and high performance computers systems (vector and parallel).  I have substantial Unix and Macintosh experience. I am most interested in developing computing tools that help people think about complex information (scientific, technical, financial, situational, linguistic) more intuitively and powerfully.  This takes the kind of integration of technical skill and cognitive psychology that I have worked to acquire. I am interested in any work that will expand my technical experience and can build on my research and academic skills.  I would especially enjoy applied R&D in educational and research software, decision support systems, simulation, scientific visualization or other applications dealing with complex information contexts. In the spirit of full disclosure: I do not yet speak Japanese, but I intend to learn as much, and as fase, as possible. I will be happy to provide further information and references on request.
