alcoholic treatment IS BUSH A RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC?
No, Bush is not a recovering alcoholic. You need to go through a treatment program and continued AA to be a recovering alcoholic. He quit drinking because his wife threatened to leave him. If he has not had treatment or assistance from AA, he is technically not recovered.

- - -No, Bush is not a recovering alcoholic. You need to go through a treatment -program and continued AA to be a recovering alcoholic. He quit drinking -because his wife threatened to leave him. If he has not had treatment or -assistance from AA, he is technically not recovered. - -Everyone who is charged with DUI is not an alcoholic. If you drink -alcohol and drive a vehicle, sooner or later you are going to both at -the same time - You are going to Drive Under the Infuence(DUI) - Most -are lucky and don't get caught. BTW - There is significant difference -between DUI and DWI! Check 'em out. - -Since Bush stopped drinking of his own freewill and without the need -for outside help that is another indication that he was not an -alcoholic. Generally speaking, an alcoholic is one whose drinking -causes them serious life problems for which they can't or won't take -corrective action. Certainly not the case with Bush, is it? He has had -it all under control for a quarter of a century - That's pretty good -evidence that it's more of a problem FOR YOU than it is for him. - -CAST YOUR VOTE FOR A BETTER AMERICA

I will point out to you that Mr. Bush was not arrested and charged with drunk driving (DWI) he was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) an entirely different thing. So much so in fact that it was just this year that the federal government pass a law requiring all states to adopt a uniform statute regarding measurements of blood-alcohol levels for the two offenses. So you see, The DUI that Mr. Bush was charged with 27 years ago in Maine, was not even an offense in most other states at that time. It is your right as a citizen to criticize, however, you should put forth some effort to assure that your criticizing is _base_d on fact. in this case it certainly isn't. Well, I pray to God (well, I would pray to her if she existed -..) that Bush wuill never become president as this would be a desaster for the world - but, nevertheless, the fact that Bush drove a car when he was drunk years ago, can't be any reason not to vote for or against him. I have - as most Europeans the feeling that most US-Americans are really hypocrites. Do not vote for Bush because of the death penalities, his stance against gays and lesbians, his not unterstanding of any enviromental questions, his ignoring of social rights .... there are thousand reasons, but drinking and driving decades ago, smoking marijuana, having affairs and one night stands with adults cannot be any reason to vote for or against somebody jens

Well, as far as I'm concerned, the DUI arrest is not even important. Had he said, when previously asked, that he had been arrested before, when he was younger, then I would have said, fine, we've all made mistakes in our youth... . However, he didn't do that, he blurred the truth, and lied. Now we found out that he used his influence to have his driver's license number changed to make it more difficult to track his arrests down. This is the actions of a man who has held his administration will bring honor and morality back to the Whitehouse. That is the problem I have with him. But, then again, it's just another example of the overall corruption of our political system, and politicians in general. Or, as my grandfather used to say, I wouldn't trust a politician any further than I could throw the Empire State Building! Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
