waltzing matilda Waltzing Matilda - LYRICS? CHORDS?
Well - would anyone care to post or email to me the lyrics (and/or chords) to Waltzing Matilda?  I'm tired of singing O.K.  There are two versions of Walzing Matilda, 'Banjo' Patterson's and the Marie Cowan version.  (And there is a bit of controversy over who is the original author I think)  The Cowan version in the more widely known of the two, while I personally prefer the tune to the other.  I given lyrics and chords for both. (Cowan version)         D            A       Bm          G    D         Once a jolly swagman camp'd by a billabong,         D         A7/E       D/F# A7/E D         Under the shade of a coolibah  tree,                D          A           Bm              G           And he sang as he watch'd and waited till his billy boiled,         D/A                       A7        D         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me.                 D/F#              G          D Chorus:         Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,                 D             G    D     D/F#       A/C#                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,                        D          A7          Bm              G                 And he sang as he watch'd and waited till his billy boiled,                 D/A                      A7         D                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,         Down came a jumbuck to drink at that billabong,         Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee,         And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag,         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me. Chorus:         Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,                 And he sang as he shoved that jumbuck in his tucker bag,                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,         Up rode the squatter mounted on his thoroughbred,         Down came the troopers one, two, three,         Whose that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me. Chorus:         Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,                 Whose that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,         Up jumped the swagman, sprang into the billabong,         You'll never catch me alive said he,         And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong,         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me. Chorus:         Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me,                 And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong,                 You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me, This version is popular among live Bush Bands                   C          Am      F           C         Oh, there once was a swagman camped in a billabong,         C         Am         Dm       G7         Under the shade of a coolibah tree,                Am         Em            F         C         And he sang as he looked at his old billy boiling,         C             F        G7           C         Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me?                 C             Am         F         C Chorus:         Who'll come a waltzing Matilda, my darling?                 C             Am         D          G                 Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me?                 Am         Em        F         C                 Waltzing Matilda and leading a water bag,                 C             F          G          C                 Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me?         Down came a jumbuck to drink at the water-hole,         Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee,         And he sang as he stowed him away in his tucker bag,         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me.         Down came the Squatter a-riding his thoroughbred,         Down came Policemen - one, two, three,         Whose is the jumbuck you've got in the tucker bag?         You'll come a waltzing Matilda with me.         But the swagman he up and he jumped in the water-hole,         Drowning himself by the the coolibah tree,         And his ghost may be heard as it sings in the billabong,         Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me?
