Good morning all. While at the local range (Knight Trail, Sarasota, FL) one of the group I shoot with just came bace from a trip to the mortheast. Knowing that another person in the group collects strange ammunition, he brought her back a .50 Beowolf cartridge. He says that it is the rage in the NE and that they can't keep them in stock. Anyway, looking at the cartridge I we noticed just how small the head is compared to the overall dameter of the cartridge. The head is about the size you would see on a .270 caliber cartridge and of course the body is what you's expect on a .50 caliber. My question is how is the space between the head abd the body supported? Does the bolt face completely surround the head and support the cartridge or what? It is a nasty looking round by the way.

This round is made for a ar15 clone built by alexander arms at the Radford VA. arsenal . there is a web site for them @http://www.brockmansrifles.com/50_beowulf.htm. There is an inherent problem with the ar application. The bolt is relieved for the large case body and breakage has occured.
