those lovely verandahs! I had the delight(?) of staying with Bob the Gob in the 2-person Watch House in about 1989.  (We love ya Bob!).  It was great to have the lawn and vista to oneself at most hours of the day.  Shame the cliff steps have a wall across them (but it's easily scaled for athletic types like yours truly!) you could get right down to the swimming pool helicopter lawn. Now when I stay I interpret the Preifat notices as meaning hotel guests only , so although not staying in a Battery cottage I still, quietly and discreetyly take the view there in the evening or morning.  Such a lovely tranquil spot albeit not as wild as the woods or cliffs to the west. The village is still gorgeous to walk around in the evening/night... and me and Linda saw our first and only UFO there (by the Stone Boat we saw a silent rotating fireball pass slowly over the Village - late August 2000.)
