Just in case anybody didn't know, the original incarnation of what was to become Velvet Revolver was a band called the Neurotic Outsiders featuring VR alumni Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, as well as Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols. This band also sounded nothing like Guns and Roses, but they were much better (though faaar less commercial sounding) than Velvet Revolver. They sounded more like late-era (post Lydon) Sex Pistols, and indeed the lyrics have many pistol references (see the song Union ). Recommended.

This was a totally different band that had nothing to do with VR, but they did kick ass. I love the NO disk!

John Taylor (from Duran Duran) was in that band as well. And Steve Jones played on Andy Taylor's Thunder LP

This was a totally different band that had nothing to do with VR, Plenty to do with VR, VR evolved from NO. Both started as a band from musicians made up from superbands jamming together. Jones sang and played guitar. When Jones left to tour with the Sex Pistols endlessly, Slash and Weiland came in to fill Jones shoes. They were originally called FANTASY 5 and played locally in San Diego.
