begonias
I have three questions that I hope an expert out there can answer about begonias.  I live in East London. Q1        I found, about three weeks ago, five begonia fiberous roots in a cardboard box  that  I had put there three years ago.  They had sprouted shoots and died back again some time before I re-found them. I planted them in pots on the off chance they would grow - as I'd had some success with some 'dead' saxifrage recently starting to sprout. Anyway  4 of the 5 begonias resprouted and are growing well on a windowsill.  How common is this regrowth after such a long dormant period?.  They had been stored in the bathroom. Q2      Are F1 Begonia semperflorens actually perennials treated as annuals?  Many of my F1s survived last year and seem to be still living now although there are not many flowers. Q3      I removed my potted flowering fiberous begonias last month from the garden - put them in the _base_ment on their sides to die off. I've noticed that two have decided to put new leaves up.  I wonder if it is possible to keep them flowering/ growing during the winter?  If so what is the best treatment for them.  They were spectacular flowers all during the summer. replies gratefully received Richard - E.
